The
Tour

During this tour you'll see the divided communities of the Shankill Road and Falls Road, hearing how for many this was the heartland of the extensive conflict.
We'll start on the Shankill Road - with the unionist/ loyalist community, you'll hear how the Battle of  Orange in 1690 was the start of the religious partition in Ireland.  How politics shaped the history of the land, right up until the peace process began and the Good Friday Agreement was signed in 1998.
We'll continue to the nationalist/ republican community of the Falls Road, starting in Bombay street - the place many reference as the starting point of the war, where Catholic civilians were burnt out of their homes and the Provisional IRA was formed.
You'll visit the infamous Bobby Sands mural and hear how the 1981 Irish Hunger strikers shaped the political landscape of today.
We'll end the tour at the "International Wall" - where local artists use the space to demonstrate current day social & economic oppression across the world, finding solidarity with the experiences of the community in Belfast.
